A dashboard that answers the three questions the team asks every morning — before they have to ask.
- Next.js
- TypeScript
- MongoDB
- Role
- Full-stack developer
- Year
- 2025
- Duration
- 2 months
- Platform
- Web
Overview
The team tracked their numbers across spreadsheets and exports. I built a single Next.js dashboard on top of their MongoDB data, typed end to end with TypeScript.
The challenge
The data was large and messy, people needed different views of it, and nobody wanted another tool that took a training session to understand.
The approach
- 01
Interviewed the people who would use it daily and designed around their real questions, not every metric available.
- 02
Aggregations run on the server, so the browser only receives the small, ready-to-chart results it needs.
- 03
Shared TypeScript types between the API and the UI kept charts and data in sync as the schema evolved.
What it does
At-a-glance overview
The key numbers first, details one click away.
Fast aggregations
Heavy lifting happens on the server, not in the browser.
Saved views
Each person keeps the filters they use every day.
Typed end to end
One set of types from database to chart.
