Overview
The client sold a growing catalogue online, but the old storefront felt slow on phones and the checkout lost people halfway through. I rebuilt the frontend in React with a component library the team could keep extending.
The challenge
Most visitors arrived on mid-range phones over mobile data. Product pages carried heavy images, filters reloaded the whole page, and the checkout asked for the same details twice.
The approach
- 01
Started with the busiest flows — category listing, product page and checkout — and rebuilt them as small, reusable React components styled with Tailwind CSS.
- 02
Moved filtering and sorting to the client so results update instantly, and lazy-loaded product images at the right size for each screen.
- 03
Collapsed checkout into a single, clearly-labelled page with inline validation and saved addresses.
What it does
Instant filtering
Filters and sorting update the grid without a page reload.
Responsive images
Every image ships at the size the device actually needs.
One-page checkout
Shipping, payment and review on a single, calm screen.
Reusable UI kit
Buttons, cards and forms the team can keep building with.
